After two tough losses, Tennessee Temple recorded their first win of the season in a comfortable 5-1 win against the visiting Oakwood University, seeing five different names get on the score sheet.
In a free flowing game the crusaders seemed to start the game in a
positive manner creating a number of chances in the first half, only to
be thwarted by the visiting keeper who finished the night with 13
saves. finally midway through the opening half the crusaders took the
lead through freshman forward, Mwesi Kalugendo. Later in the half
Temple doubled their lead after freshman play maker Thomas Gareau, got
to the byline and crossed for Kevin Carrilo to apply the finish.
In the second half Temple continued just were they left off creating
chances and controlling possession. The breakthrough came when Florida
Native Chris White was brought down in the box and Gareau converted
from the penalty spot. Freshman, Chris white later made it four after
converting on a through ball from Kalugendo. To round off the scoring
Junior midfielder Timothy Ward scored the fifth goal from a well struck
set piece ten yards out from the edge of the box. Late in the game
Oakwood scored a consolation goal from a free kick.
"I was very pleased with the result, we look better each game and are
beginning to gel as a unit and create chances" Kenrick Liburd
Next up the crusaders travel to Demorest, GA to face Piedmont College on Thursday.
