Tomorrow evening is the start of the Mid-East Regional Tourney hosted by Tennessee Temple University. Late Monday, the tourney field was set. It will be comprised of six teams, with the top two teams getting the 1st round bye.
#1 Seed, Mid-Continent, with a record of 17-13, represents the Tran South Conference in NAIA D1. They are out of Mayfield, KY, which is just outside of Paducah. Their head coach is Winston Bennett, who is in his 6th season at Mid-Continent.
#2 Seed, Union University (TN), is coming in with a record of 8-18 in their first year as members of NCAA D2. Union is located in Jackson, TN. They are led by David Niven, who is in his 4th year at Union.
#3 Seed, Tennessee Temple University, is coming in riding a 10 game winning streak and has a record of 19-11. The Crusaders are lead by 1st year head coach Brac Brady. Tennessee Temple University is one of the few schools that is only part of one Athletic Association as they are D1 members of the NCCAA.
#4 Seed, Covenant College, a NCAA D3 school located in Lookout Mountain, GA is coming in with a record of 14-11. The Scots are led by Kyle Taylor, who is in his 4th year. Kyle also serves as the Regional Chairman for the Mid-East.
#5 Seed, Hiwassee College, is located in Madisonville, TN. They are led by 2nd year head coach, Randy Nelson. The Tigers' record is 7-23. They are only members of the NCCAA.
#6 Seed, Victory University, is located in Memphis, TN. Their record is 20-7. They are members of the NCCAA, as well as the USCAA. They are led by Scott Robinson, who is in his 3rd season.
Also as part of the Mid East Christian Service Project, TTU is holding a clothes drive, Please bring clothes to the ticket office upon arrival.
