Men's Soccer - Fri, Sep. 26, 2014

Men's soccer comfortable 2-0 away win against Oakwood University was the third victory of the season for the Crusaders, and the second over Oakwood. Dictating the game from the start, Temple passed the ball with authority from the defense through to the attack with fluency. The first goal of the game was also a first collegiate goal for sophomore midfielder Jack Fairbrother. After Garry Law found space behind the full back and pulled it back toward Fairbrother, Temple's number eight unleashed an exquisite

half volley into the top corner of the goal. Frustratingly for Temple that was the only goal of the first half. The second half only bought one goal, too, but the professionalism demonstrated by the Crusaders was pleasing to watch for Head Coach Ignacio Ortiz.

Soon after Fairbrother had struck the post with another long distance effort, freshman Tad Whitaker grabbed his first goal at the collegiate level with a fine finish. Fairbrother was again involved, overlapping Gerardo Mondragon

to assist with a precise cross that allowed Whitaker to finish first time from inside the box. Temple finished the game with an impressive twenty-three shots on goal compared to Oakwood's five.

The Crusaders (3-4) will now look to climb back to .500 on Saturday when they host USCAA opponents Warren Wilson College (Sep 27, 2:00PM).
