Heritage High School's Shea Headrick signed scholarship papers Wednesday at the school to continue her softball career next year at Tennessee Temple University. She plays right field for Heritage, which leads Georgia Region 7-AAAA by three games. "We know we're getting a ballplayer from a super program," Temple coach Randy Crawford said. "And she's really fast and has a strong arm.

She's a hustler who gives it all she's got." Headrick is a three-year starter for the Generals and already a three-time Academic All-American, with a grade point average above 3.5. "Shea has an extremely strong arm and is very good in the clutch, offensively and defensively," Heritage coach Steve Chattin said, noting that she has thrown out "numerous" batters at first base and made a diving catch at the foul line in last year's state tournament. "Offensively she hits line drives, and with her speed we also use her in the short game, bunting for base hits." Headrick said Piedmont in particular also was interested in her but she likes what she knows about Temple and its planned campus at Woodland Park Baptist Church, "and I love the coaches."
