Tennessee Temple University Director of Athletics John Secord announced the promotion of Drew Whitley to Head Coach of the Crusaders Baseball program. Whitley served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Crusaders during the 2008-2009 season.
"I am excited about the opportunity given to me," said Whitley. "I look forward to further developing the Baseball program at Tennessee Temple." Coach Gus Hernandez who resigned as head coach last week to pursue a mission opportunity in the Dominican Republic shared the following thoughts on the promotion "I am glad to see the University give Coach Whitley this opportunity. I am excited for him. He was a blessing to have on our staff last season and promoting him is good for the stability of the program."
Whitley received a BA in 1998 from Shorter College and is currently pursuing his Masters Degree at Tennessee Temple. "Drew took advantage of the opportunity given to him this season and his entire body of work has earned him this promotion" said Secord. "I am excited about the direction of the program under Drew's leadership."
